Musician and social activist, Bob Geldof was awarded a doctorate of honor from the Israel University, Ben-Gurion University. Degree awarded in recognition of efforts Geldof end hunger in Africa and increase awareness of poverty . Ben - Gurion University stated , award will be given to the musicians from Ireland in a ceremony at the end of May as quoted from Huffingtonpost , Tuesday (22 / 3) . Geldof is the founder of Live Aid charity concert in London (which was attended by 72,000 people) and Philadelphia ( attended by 99,000 people) in 1985.
